In an endeavour to bring everyone closer and for new families to the WAFC to feel more welcome, a working group has been developed with the goal of creating a Family and Friends Group committee. Parents play an active role in any Club and the WAFC is no different, thus it has been identified as a positive action to get more families of players involved, made to feel welcome and interacting with the Club.
The role of the committee is to encourage greater involvement and membership of family and friends in the Club, play a leadership role in player welfare and thus positively influence the financial position of the Club. In addition to developing initiatives for the upcoming 2013 season and beyond, the Committee will coordinate events throughout the year. The main focus is on the players and games; however, the possibility of a couple of events through the football season involving parents and friends would be a positive move.
Last Sunday 24th February 85 parents, family and friends came to a WAFC Breakfast to officially launch this group in 2013 and there were presentations by Andy Collins, Andrew Marks, and Bree Munro regarding player welfare and a fantastic breakfast was enjoyed by all. A number of participants pledged their membership support for 2013 and sponsorship opportunities were sought.
