Round 23: V Sturt at Commander Centre Oval

After indoor training on Friday night at Cabra, the boys were given the opportunity to define the game plan on how they play our final game for the season.

Their response was:

1: Hard at the ball and body
2: Intensity
3:Excitement

The coach’s instruction was to have fun and play with pride.

Any resemblance to these points was non-existent in the 1st half. We just did not compete. At the long break it was Sturt with 6goals 12 to our just 2points.

The half time address was strong and the boys were asked to respond and show pride in their endeavours.

The boys did respond and it was a game of defence. At 20 minutes, of the 3rd quarter each team had registered a goal. Then at 22minutes 40, Sturt had their 2nd goal and we added our 2nd goal at 26 minutes. Sturt added another 2goals in the last 2 minutes of the quarter to lead 10goals 12 to our 2goals 2 at the last break.

We outscored Sturt in the last quarter, added 3 goals 2 and restricted them to just 1goal 3. At the final siren, it was our 5goals 4 to their 11goals 15.

If we had showed this attitude in the 1st half, then maybe the result could have been different.
  
Best players: Jack Evans who started on the wing and then moved to an on ball roll played his best game, Mitch Roberts in defence played well, Kieren Nelson in defence never gives his opponent an inch and his attack on the ball is first rate,  Michael Minuzzo tried hard to lift the Team, Cameron Long started in ruck and at half time was given a task at CHB which he did well and Nick Hyde is  making full back his position.

Goals: Singles to Ryan Dijksman, Michale Minuzzo, Darcy Munn, Tom Schott and Miles Sumner.

That’s it for Season 2011.

The boys should enjoy the break and then return for pre-season to set us up to become a force in 2012.
