Round 22: V Eagles at Unleash Solar Oval
We knew this would be a hard game as both Teams would be bolstered by inclusion of boys from College. A plan was devised to restrict the scoring opportunities of the opposition.
Conditions were windy and the Team with 1st use would have the advantage.
The 1st quarter saw us kicking to the Port Road end, against the wind and we never really recovered from this. We were not allowed to develop any ascendancy in our forward movements with the wind.
Whilst our tackle count was up from the previous week we still allowed the opposition to get clear and they outscored us to lead 8goals 4 to our 3goals 5 at the long break.
We could not contain the Eagles in the next half and they ran out easy winner, 16goals 14 to our 4goals 11.
Best players: Our best 3 players were in defence. Cameron Long was given a task at CHB to contain the Eagles most damaging player and he did this well, Mitchell Roberts played his role in accordance with Coach’s instruction, Nick Hyde at full back also restricted his opponent, Ed Keenan at half back and on ball was prominent as was Zac Bates.
Goals: Bill Keenan with 2 and singles to Rhys Sporn and Miles Sumner.
Next week is our last game. Lets work hard on the track and make a concerted effort to finish on a high note.
We play Sturt at Commander Centre Oval ( Unley) on Saturday, 10th September at 11.25am.
