ROUND 21: U18 C.O.E REPORT

Round 20: V Glenelg at Glidoral Stadium
A late withdrawal on Saturday morning meant we would go with only 3 on the bench.
We lacked any intensity in our efforts during the opening quarter and allowed Glenelg to add 5goals 5 to our 2goals 3 at the 1st siren.
We had to lift our game and in a game of defences we kept Glenelg to 1goal 3 whislt we added 2 goals 3 to trail, 6goals 8 to 4 goals 6 at the long break. We lost Nathan Van Eekeren with a bad hand injury in this quarter and this further restricted our bench.
Our clearances and tackles were down and this was an area we had to improve on in the 2nd half.
We tried hard but were not able to contain Glenelg as they added another 5goals 4 to our 2goals 2 to lead 11goals 12 to our 6goals 8 at the last break. Michael Minuzzo came off at about the 22 minute mark with a finger injury. We were now down to one player on the bench for the last quarter.
The Coach told the boys to go out and enjoy the game and take risks.
At the 6 minute mark we had 3 goals on the scoreboard and were giving Glenelg a fright. For the remainder of the quarter we were off target and only added a further 5 points. This quarter was a more even contest with Glenelg adding 3 goals 4. At the siren , it was Glenelg with 14goals 16 to our 9goals 13.
Best players: Drew Gallard started on the wing and then at CHB gave us run and worked hard all day, Ryan Dijksman also started on the wing and then switched to an on ball role had a good work rate, Zac Bates continues to improve, Loucas Theodoulou gave us rebound from defence, Kieren Nelson also in defence continued on from his good game of last week and Tom Schott is giving us flexibility with his efforts at CHF and also in ruck.
Goals: Tom Schott with 3 and singles to Hassan Ahmat-Watkins, Zac Bates, Kaiden Brand, Ryan Dijksman, Mason Ellis and Darcy Munn.
Our next game is away, against the Eagles at Unleash Solar Oval on Saturday 3rd September, starting at 8.40am.
