ROUND 20: U18 C.O.E REPORT
22/08/2011 11:19:20 AM

Round 19: V South Adealide at Hickinbotham Oval

This was a game between the bottom two teams on the ladder, so it would be a hard fought battle.

It was another disappointing draw. To be in 3 drawn games in the one season is most unusual.

Our tackling and smothering was good in the 1st half. At half time we had a 4 point buffer leading 5goals9 to 4goals 7.

The game was there to win, but in the 2nd half our disposals were poor and with handballs missing targets to put us to advantage that left us not putting results on the board. We trailed 6goals 10 to 6goals 14 at the last break.

The last quarter saw in each team trying to gain the ascendency. South kicked clear but their in-accuracy let them down as our last 2goals got us back in the game. The siren sounded with scores level. They had 25 scoring shots to our 20. The final score was our 8goals 12 to their 7goals 18.

Whilst players had numbers of possessions, our disposals let us down, particularly when we were going forward.

Best players: Ben Smith was our best with a consistent 4 quarter effort, Kieren Nelson who is renowned for his attack on the ball, played his best game in defence and was rewarded with 2nd best, Tom Carter gave us the focal point in attack with his strong marks, Rhys Smelt and Ed Keenan in new roles at half back were strong and whilst Michael Minuzzo had plenty of the ball he was not as effective as in previous games but he was still in the best 6.

Golas: Michael Minuzzo with 2 and singles to Tom Carter, Ryan Dijksman, Nick Favretto, Bill Keenan, Ryhs Sporn and Miles Sumner.

Our next game is away, against Glenelg on Saturday 27th August, starting at 2.10pm.
